Plaistow
What is the correct pronunciation of Plaistow?

Is it Play-stow or Plar-stow?

I should know, I use to walk from there to Upton Park for 20 years but clearly not.

Re: Plaistow
Literally no one has ever said Play-stow except the old announcements on the new hammersmith & city line trains about 20 years ago

Surely?

What is your blatant obsession with me and a place I've never been to joyless?

Have i said something about you in the past that deeply touched a nerve?

The truth, as the say, often hurts.

Re: Plaistow
trying to pronounce my give name - Michael - is a lesson in itself, but I used to often get a shag out of teaching girls how to pronounce it.
Was that in Cambodia you old creep?

Re: Plaistow
Plah-stow. Was Plah-stow before I even knew where it was.

Bromley was always an issue as my father and his family hailed from south of the river.

English, though, is a complete cunt - People trying to pronounce my give name - Michael - is a lesson in itself, but I used to often get a shag out of teaching girls how to pronounce it.

Then Michael Jackson died and everybody knew, so I had to put my knob away.

If you’re an East Londoner or found yourself regularly in Plaistow, Newham, you’d pronounce it ‘Plar-stow’. Unless you’re from Bromley, they pronounce their Plaistow ‘Play-stow’.

30 years.

Doing some work there and a colleague was pronouncing it differently... It threw me.

I've never been quite sure of that either.

I always thought Super Trooper by Abba mentioned "when I called you last night from Plaistow", but apparently it's GLASGOW.

ERITH is another one I struggle with.

Is it eh-rith or EE-rith?
